I’m building a house; what kind of solar PV system should I get?

New build homes are required to have either a solar PV system or a heat pump. If you’ve chosen solar PV, you can opt for an in-roof system or a traditionally mounted system. Visit our New Builds page for more information.

What’s the difference between an in-roof system and a traditionally mounted one?

In-roof means the panels are mounted onto the roof frame and tiles or slates go around it to seal the building. Traditional mountings are panels installed on rails on top of a roof material e.g. tiles. We installed an in-roof system on our new NI office in Dromore, Co. Tyrone. You can see some images here.

Are there grants for domestic solar PV systems?

Homeowners in Ireland may be eligible for grant support. As part of your consultation, we’ll check if you can avail of support and give advice on how to apply.
